Jackpot! Big Bucks Paid for Stuffed Toys from the 1980’s

Written by Kelley Hopper on December 13th, 2009

I am always amazed how many stuffed animals and plush toys I see at garage sales, estate sales and thrift stores. I’ve had decent success with selling used plush toys but nothing like these sellers.

This auction was for a 1980’s Pink Popple. The seller started bidding at $4.95 and received 19 bids for a final selling price of $103.50.

This auction was for a 1980’s Edward Gorey Bean Bag Frog. The bidding began at $24.99 and after 17 bids had a final price of $152.45. Wow!

This auction blew me away. It was for 2 Yum Yum Bears made in the late 1980’s. The seller listed the pair at auction with a starting bid of $9.95. There were 29 bidders for these two bears and the final selling price was $430.00!!!!!!!

Before you give your kids stuffed animals away, check online to see what they are selling for. I know I have a Popple somewhere that I never listed because I didn’t think anyone would buy it. You never know what will sell until you put it online.
