Selling Free Items

It never ceases to amaze me of the abundance and diversity of products that you can buy online. Even items that literally have no value can bring in a few dollars. One item that I have purchased before is coupons.

eBay is a great place to get coupons and there are sellers that do nothing more than sell coupons. I don’t think these sellers are getting rich but if you get coupons in the mail, in your magazines or in the paper and don’t mind cutting and sorting them this is a good way to make a little cash.

Selling ten or more coupons for the same item is popular as well as selling large batches of the same category like baby items. I personally like to buy large dollar coupons that come out once or twice a year for hair color product and for teeth whiteners.

You will notice on most sellers ads that they are not selling you the coupons, they are asking for payment for their time. This is the way the listing policy reads so if you are going to sell coupons you should put the same type of language in your ad.

Coupons are everywhere and you may be able to get unused ones from your neighbors or co-workers. Some weekly newspapers come with stacks of coupons so they are readily available. Some towns may also let you get extras at the newspaper office but you’ll have to check with your local publisher.

Once you get a pile of coupons, create your listing but make sure that the listing ends in time for the buyer to receive the coupons and use them. Some manufacturers have a very short time period in which you can use the coupons and generally these are not easy to sell. The mail may take a week to get to your buyer so take that into consideration before you list.

So the next time you get ready to throw away the paper or magazine, why not cut out the coupons and list them online. You can make a few dollars and build your feedback at the same time.
